Whyte & Mackay is a Scottish company producing alcoholic beverages. It was founded in 1844 and is based in Glasgow. It is now owned by Philippines-based Emperador Inc. (a subsidiary of the Alliance Global Group holding company).
It is self-branded whisky holds about 3 per cent of the UK whisky market. Today the brand is synonymous with its master blender, Richard Paterson, and remains one of the most popular Scotch brands in the world.
A discontinued 15-year-old Whyte and Mackay, presented in the old pre-2007 Dalmore style bottle.
The Whyte and Mackay Select Reserve 15-Year-Old Blended Scotch Whisky is a blend of single malts and grain whiskies, all aged at least 15 years.
It’s known for its smooth and mellow taste with notes of honey, spices, and oak, and a long, dry finish with hints of citrus and peat1. It is recommended to be served neat or with a few drops of water to release its full flavor.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Fleshy and ripe (crème brûlée, plum, blackberry tart) then aromatic note of cedar/cigar ash. Dry and sweet in balance.
Palate: Sweet hay with a firm structure. Deep and long with an unctuous feel. Stewed fruits, sherry, black cherry, treacle tart, dark chocolate.
Finish: Dry, clean.
