A tremendous addition to the Experimental Series from Glenfiddich combines the influences of Scotland and Somerset! Basically, this single malt finishes in casks that previously held Somerset Pomona Spirit, a blend of apple cider brandy and apple juice from the Somerset Cider Brandy Co.!
Moreover, Malt Master Brian Kinsman visited the Somerset Cider Brandy Co. to meet with Master Distiller Matilda Temperly. Furthermore, after strolling through the vintage orchards, inspiration struck. Glenfiddich sent the casks from Somerset to Scotland, filled them with a core of delicious malt, and let them ripen.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Firstly, on the nose, Crisp green apple peels mingle with vanilla and zesty notes of fermented fruit. Balancing sweet buttery toffee.
Palate: Then, on the palate, this expression packs a fruity punch—pressed apples. And hints of pear lead to zestier notes of orange and lemon peel. Warming spice from spiced apple cake and nutmeg adds depth.
Finish: The apple cider notes linger, with pressed juices and red orchard fruits intertwining with gentle oak spice and creamy barley.
