Description
GlenAllachie 9Y Rye Wood 70CL This GlenAllachie has been finished in rye casks! Initially the single malt was matured in American oak barrels before being transferred to casks which previously held rye whiskey from Kentucky for a finishing period. Eventually it was bottled at nine years old at 48% ABV, full of sufficiently spicy notes from the cask finish.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Heaps of baking spices, with a hit of cinnamon and syrupy fruit, with a drizzle of floral honey and candied orange.
Palate: Honeyed spices, with nutmeg appearing now alongside oak char, dulce de leche and clove-studded orange.
Finish: Dark treacle and more baking spices appear on a tingly finish.
