The Harris Reed Edition is part of the third release in Royal Salute’s Fashion Collection. Reed, a graduate of Central Saint Martins, sought to blend his fashion expertise with the legacy of Royal Salute. His signature feather headpieces, which he calls modern-day crowns, inspired the design.
These headpieces became the centerpiece of the bottle’s design. The bottle is adorned with a stunning feather detail that symbolizes both Harris’ theatrical flair and the elegance of Royal Salute.
The blend was created in a special co-blending session at the renowned Strathisla Distillery. Harris Reed collaborated closely with Master Blender Sandy Hyslop during the blending process. Reed’s personal tastes and bold style influenced the whisky’s flavor profile. The result is a rich and complex 21-year-old blend that reflects Reed’s unique approach to both fashion and flavor.
TASTING NOTES
Firstly, the nose of this whisky is a delightful symphony of fresh red apples, homemade raspberry jam, and creamy crème brûlée. These sweet aromas swirl with nutty hazelnut praline, warm cinnamon, and a touch of toasted oak.
Then, on the palate, the whisky unveils layers of pear crumble, creamy vanilla fudge, and toasted almonds. The extra charred virgin oak barrel adds depth and complexity, while Sherry-matured Braeval lends notes of raisin, gooseberry jam, lively ginger, and clove.
Finally, the finish is rich, complex, and spicy, leaving a lasting impression.
The blend contains a mix of Sherry-matured Braeval and American Oak-matured Glenburgie. This combination results in a sweet, spicy signature style.
It gives the whisky a vibrant, full-bodied flavor profile that speaks to both tradition and innovation. The 21-year-old whisky shines with its unique balance of flavors and aromas.
