GLENFIDDICH PERPETUAL COLLECTION SET
Glenfiddich recently launched its “Perpetual Collection,” exclusively for Global Travel Retail. This remarkable range of whiskies remains in perpetual motion within vats that have never been emptied. Basically, each successive vat fill acts like a new generation of whisky, building on the past. Consequently, the whisky increases in character, dimension, and complexity.
The distillery pioneered a unique technique known as the Solera Vat process. This method adds continuous layers of flavor to the whisky by bottling only half of the liquid in the vats before refilling. Therefore, each vat still contains the original liquid, creating a direct connection from the past to the future. This concept embodies the essence of the Perpetual Collection.
The collection includes four expressions. First, Vat 01 features a 40% ABV. It layers sweet and spicy notes, providing a soft and mellow taste. The maturation in bourbon and red wine casks adds depth. Thus, you experience a balanced and refreshingly smooth Glenfiddich.
Next, Vat 02 presents a mellow yet complex liquid at 43% ABV. This single malt undergoes double maturation in oak and Spanish sherry casks. As a result, it develops through continuous motion, delivering a wonderfully smooth taste.
Then, Vat 03 boasts a higher ABV of 50.2% and remains non-chill filtered. It matures for over 15 years in European oak sherry and ex-bourbon casks. This expression combines warm notes of spice with hints of nutty marzipan and dark sherry oak, resulting in a silky-smooth, full-bodied whisky.
Finally, Vat 04, at 47.8% ABV and also non-chill filtered, offers a warming and refined experience. Aged in Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks for 18 years, it delivers robust oak aromas, ripe orchard fruit, and baked apple.
To celebrate this launch, Glenfiddich plans pop-up retail spaces in select airports. Travelers can explore the collection through immersive experiences, including tasting and engaging with collective artwork. Thus, Glenfiddich brings a unique opportunity to whisky enthusiasts around the world.
