Glenfarclas 40Y 70CL A fantastic 40 year old single malt whisky, produced by the Glenfarclas distillery. This release has been packaged in a special red box to mimic the doors leading into the Glenfarclas warehouse.
The 2016 release of Glenfarclas 40 Year Old, presented in a box styled on the distillery’s warehouse doors. This is a classic sherried Glenfarclas, with notes of Christmas cake, dark chocolate and orange.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Dense dark chocolate, cigar box and raisin as it opens, before hints of old oak furniture start to develop (some leather notes here, too!). After a few minutes, touches of Cognac-like rancio appear.
Palate: Continuing Christmas Cake elements, and a pinch of tobacco remains as well. Chocolate orange brownies, coffee beans and chewy dried fruit adds to the richness. Sparks of cinnamon and black pepper in the background, bringing a comforting warmth to the palate.
Finish: A long finish, boasting thick notes of Sherry and butterscotch. Seville orange marmalade and ginger develop later.
