CHIVAS REGAL 1801 OLD EDITION 12Y 75CL
Chivas Regal is a world-famous Scotch blend first made in the early 20th century by Chivas Brothers.
The company traces its roots back to 1801, when they opened a grocer’s at Number 13 King Street, Aberdeen. Initially, they sold luxury food, coffee, and spices. The company started making whisky only half a century later.
Basically, Chivas Regal 12-Year-Old was first officially released after US Prohibition. F. Paul Pacult praised Chivas Regal 12 as “the blend for grown-ups,” giving it an impressive 9 out of 10.
This refined blended whisky delivers a palate of herbs, honey, and fruit. Critics frequently acclaim it as a superb blend in its price category, representing great value for money.
Tasting Notes
Nose:
Firstly, on the nose, experience a creamy, aromatic blend of vanilla custard, hints of aniseed, lemon curd, and butter toffee. Wood shavings and dried banana chips develop, with just a hint of cassis.
Palate:
Then, on the palate, the banana chips appear again on the palate, joined by a creamy hit of barley malt and a touch of allspice. Ground walnut and caramel notes also emerge.
Finish:
In the end the finish, light spice and black pepper linger on the tail. The finish retains notes of cereal sweetness.
Overall: This blend is spicy and beautifully balanced, with a lot going on.
