Description

BELL’S CHRISTMAS 2003 8Y 70CL:

Bladnoch distillery, situated on the banks of the river Bladnoch, established itself in 1817.

It closed in 1938 but reopened in 1956.

Arthur Bell & Sons acquired the distillery in 1983. Integrating it into the blend of Bell’s original scotch whisky as one of the five malt whiskies.

Bladnoch fell silent in 1993, and Glenkinchie Distillery replaced it among the quintet.

The 2003 decanter commemorates the life of Alexander Fleming (1881-1955), born in Lochfield, Scotland.

Fleming discovered penicillin while serving as a captain in the army medical corps during World War I.

He was knighted in 1944 and received the Nobel Prize in 1945.
