Description
CUTTY SARK 25Y 70CL
Overview:
Cutty Sark whisky originated from a meeting on March 23, 1923, between Francis Berry and Hugh Rudd of Berry Brothers & Rudd. Therefore, they aimed to create a lighter blended whisky to attract their wine-oriented clientele. They also intended to bottle it with its natural pale color.
Basically, selected from rare casks of the finest mature Speyside malts and married at natural strength, this 25-year-old whisky boasts exceptional quality and distinction.
Nose:
Initially, the nose reveals crystalline notes of old lemon and orange, along with removed dried dates and leather. Also, you’ll notice old dusty oak, dry brushwood, and leaves. A very clean mineral base note complements some resin, subtle liquorice, and a hint of old smoke. With more time and gentle sniffing, a delicate fruity bell emerges, though it remains fragile.
Taste:
Then, the taste is clean and light with an elegant texture. Expect a noticeable tingle on the tongue. The flavors include leather, spice, tobacco, and a subtle, complex fruitiness. Enjoying it in larger sips reveals apricot jam, polished wood, chocolate, roasted nuts, rotten wood, delicate mushroom notes, and gingerbread spice.
Finish:
In the end, the finish doesn’t introduce new flavors but extends to a medium-long duration. Depending on your focus, it can range from medium to long, with tart and herbal notes lingering.
