Description
CHIVAS REGAL AMERICAN OAK 18Y 1L
Chivas Regal, first launched by Chivas Brothers in 1909. Quickly became a premium brand with a strong market in the US.
Prohibition halted its success for a while. But it also paved the way for Canadian distillers. Seagram, to expand into the Scotch market.
Seagram acquired Chivas Brothers in 1949, adding Strathisla and three more distilleries to its portfolio.
Over time, Seagram also bought Campbell Distillers and The Glenlivet Distillers, establishing itself as one of Scotland’s largest whisky companies.
In the early 2000s, Seagram’s empire collapsed, and Pernod-Ricard acquired Chivas Brothers along with Allied Domecq and its Ballantine’s brand.
Today, Chivas produces two of the top three selling blends globally, and its distillery portfolio, led by Glenlivet, rivals that of Diageo.
This edition, finished in a first-fill American Oak cask, is bottled at a higher ABV of 48%.
