BenRiach distilled and bottled this 22-Year-Old single malt Scotch whisky, finishing it in Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks. The cask finishing imparts a rich, fruity sweetness to the robust, peated BenRiach flavor profile.
Albariza Peated remains non-chill filtered and retains its natural color. Bottled at 46% ABV, this Speyside whisky features Albariza, a white marl of calcium, clay, and sea fossils used to cultivate grapes for Sherry production in Southern Spain’s Andalucía region.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Sherry sweetness cuts through light leather, chicory, and smoky oak. Subtle hints of red meat and sweet barley linger.
Palate: Sweet Mirabella peppers, black cherry, and ripe figs rise but remain balanced. Vanilla, campfire peat, and touches of white pepper complete a deep palate.
Finish: The finish extends with notes of menthol, honey, and dark chocolate.
