BELL’S ROYAL VAT 12Y 75CL
Arthur Bell & Sons’ history dates back to the mid-19th century. But they didn’t emerge as a major player in the Scotch industry until the 1930s.
In 1932, they acquired the Blair Athol and Dufftown distilleries from P. Mackenzie & Co, followed by Inchgower from Moray Town Council four years later.
The company focused on the domestic market and held a commanding 35% share by the 1970s, with Bell’s Extra Special becoming Scotland’s top-selling brand.
Guinness purchased the firm in 1985 and acquired DCL the next year. Today, Diageo, the company’s modern incarnation, continues to produce Bell’s blends.
An old bottle of a classic blend.
They bottled this blend in the 1930s for the German Export market.
