When George Ballantine established a wine and spirits shop in Edinburgh. And later entered the whisky blending business in 1865.
In 1910, Ballantine’s launched its flagship blend, Ballantine’s Finest. The blend’s popularity attracted the attention of Canadian distilling giants, Hiram Walker, in 1936. Leveraging their financial success from US prohibition. They sought to enter the Scotch industry. Also acquiring the Miltonduff and Glenburgie distilleries.
Today, the Ballantine’s name remains influential. Prompting Chivas Brothers to market both of their single malts under this prestigious brand.
