Chivas Regal, a renowned Scotch blend, originated in the early 20th century when Chivas Brothers began producing it.
The company’s history dates back to 1801 with a grocery store at Number 13 King Street, Aberdeen. They initially sold luxury foods, coffee, and spices before venturing into whisky production.
It wasn’t until after US Prohibition that Chivas Regal 12-Year-Old debuted. F. Paul Pacult praised Chivas Regal 12 as “the blend for grown-ups,” awarding it 9 out of 10.
As a result, this refined blend features a palate with herbs, honey, and fruit and offers superb value for its price.
Tasting Notes:
in the first, on the Nose: Creamy vanilla custard, hints of aniseed, lemon curd, butter toffee, wood shavings, dried banana chips, and a touch of cassis.
Then, on the Palate: Creamy barley malt, banana chips, allspice, ground walnut, and caramel.
In the end, the Finish: Light spice and black pepper with lingering cereal sweetness.
Overall: A spicy, beautifully balanced blend with a complex profile.
