Arran Smugglers’ Series Volume One – The Illicit Stills Island single malt Scotch whisky.
The Illicit Stills’, a dram that’s robust, has a heavier peat influence. Which is more in tradition to whisky previous produced on the Island of Arran, in days gone by.
It includes some heavily peated Arran Malt at 50ppm. And Arran malt which has been fully matured in Port Pipes. The sweetness of older bourbon barrels perfectly balances the heavily peated Arran.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: A rather busy nose. Packed with dried fruit. Floral wafts and light BBQ embers. Subtle coastal elements too…
Palate: Peat warmth really starts to build up here. Alongside robust Christmas spices. Hints of Sherried plums and a touch of apple.
Finish: Long and full, with plenty of smoke.
