ROYAL SALUTE DIRECTORS CELEBRATION RESERVE 70CL
To celebrate receiving the Queen’s Award for Export in April 1990. Chivas released a special edition of Royal Salute featuring whisky aged between 15 and 30 years.
Chivas Brothers launched the first Chivas Regal blend in 1909. The premium brand quickly gained popularity in the US.
Prohibition temporarily disrupted its success. But it allowed Canadian distillers Seagram to expand into the Scotch market. Seagram acquired Chivas Brothers in 1949. Adding Strathisla and three more distilleries to its portfolio.
Over time, Seagram also acquired Campbell Distillers and The Glenlivet Distillers. Making it one of Scotland’s largest whisky companies.
In the early 2000s, the Seagram empire collapsed, and Pernod Ricard acquired Chivas Brothers, along with Allied Domecq and its Ballantine’s brand.
Chivas now produces two of the top three selling blends in the world. Its distillery portfolio, with Glenlivet as its flagship brand, competes closely with Diageo.
