GLENFIDDICH PEATED VINTAGE CASK COLLECTION 70CL
Glenfiddich Vintage Cask pays tribute to William Grant & Sons, a fifth-generation Scottish family distiller. This single malt whisky boasts an ABV of 40%. Our Malt Master, Brian Kinsman, selects the finest European and American oak casks. He marries these casks in small batches, showcasing the coopers’ skill.
Vintage Cask features a lightly peated profile, unusual for Glenfiddich. The European oak casks bring a vibrant toffee apple character. Meanwhile, the American oak adds smoky embers and velvety vanilla smoothness. Using our unique Cask Collection Solera vat, we blend these complex flavors. This process adds depth and richness, resulting in a smoky whisky with a discernible peaty note.
Tasting Notes:
Color: Golden barley.
Nose: Firstly, enjoy inviting aromas of freshly cut straw and bonfire smoke. These scents evoke an autumn evening. Smokiness mingles with leafy, floral notes.
Palate: The palate opens with sweetness, featuring vanilla, crème brûlée, and citrus. This sweetness transitions to a rush of smoke, burning embers, and meadow flowers.
Finish: Experience a long-lasting finish with lingering floral and smoky notes.
This expression honors Glenfiddich’s past. It recalls when peat played a significant role in the malting process. The new distillate measures around 25ppm phenol, reducing to about 15ppm during maturation.
Glenfiddich Vintage Cask also highlights our coopers’ dedication. Their expertise ensures high-quality wood contributes rich layers of character. We proudly maintain an on-site cooperage, enhancing our whisky’s quality.
Our innovative Solera process, developed by David Stewart, elevates this whisky further. Inspired by sherry-making regions in Spain, this method involves hand-selecting individual casks. We marry them in a specially constructed Solera Vat, kept at least half full. This technique allows flavors to meld and mellow, resulting in a consistent single malt.
