This fantastic 40-year-old single malt whisky hails from the Glenfarclas distillery. The 2016 release comes in a special red box designed to resemble the doors of the distillery’s warehouse. This classic sherried Glenfarclas features rich notes of Christmas cake, dark chocolate, and orange.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Experience dense dark chocolate, cigar box, and raisin as it opens. Hints of old oak furniture and leather notes develop over time. After a few minutes, discover touches of Cognac-like rancio.
Palate: Enjoy the continuing elements of Christmas cake and a pinch of tobacco. Indulge in chocolate orange brownies, coffee beans, and chewy dried fruit, adding richness. Sparks of cinnamon and black pepper in the background provide comforting warmth.
Finish: Revel in a long finish, showcasing thick notes of Sherry and butterscotch. Later, savor the development of Seville orange marmalade and ginger.
