A 1995 Glenfarclas 26-year-old bottled in 2022 at cask strength without coloring as part of the distillery’s evergreen Family Cask range.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Balanced sweetness and fruitiness. Notes of yellow plum, sultanas, dried apricot, and dried apple. Hints of bitter orange, almond, walnut, and warm honey. Subtle shoe polish, milk chocolate, ginger, clove, pepper, and a touch of allspice and mint.
Palate: Textured mouthfeel without being thick. Initial strong alcohol; balance tricky with water. Best with about 1 ml for 25 ml dram. Creamy dried fruits: plum, sultanas, apple, and apricot. Additional pear and bitter citrus. Soft new leather, vanilla, slight toffee, and honey. Nutty, chocolatey, with more pepper than the nose; no mint here.
Finish: Quite long, focusing on sharp spiciness. Sweet creamy and dried fruit notes fade quickly. Lingering chocolate and soft leather, ending on light bitter oak and pepper.
