Dimple Haig, or Dimple Pinch, launched in 1893 as demand for blended Scotch whisky surged. The Haig family and their extensive network dominated the Lowland whisky industry and capitalized on the boom. John Haig’s sons, Alicius and Hugh Vietch, founded Haig & Haig in 1888 to manage the export of the company’s whiskies to the US. Their efforts leading up to Prohibition boosted Dimple’s popularity in America.
By 1939, Haig’s Dimple and Gold Label brands had made Haig the top-selling Scotch in the UK. Dimple Pinch had also regained its pre-Prohibition sales in the US. Although the brand vanished from the UK until Haig Club’s debut, Dimple continued to sell over a million cases by the millennium, with its major markets including South Korea, Germany, Greece, and the US.
