Chivas Brothers launched the first Chivas Regal blend in 1909, rapidly establishing a premium brand with a significant market in the US.

Despite Prohibition temporarily halting its success ten years later. It inadvertently paved the way for Canadian distillers, Seagram, to become North America’s largest drinks company.

Consequently, Seagram immediately targeted Chivas Brothers upon entering the Scotch market. In 1949, Seagram acquired the firm, added Strathisla to their portfolio, and built three additional distilleries.

As time went on, Seagram further expanded by acquiring Campbell Distillers and The Glenlivet Distillers. Thereby solidifying its position as one of Scotland’s largest whisky companies.

However, when the Seagram empire collapsed in the early 2000s, Pernod-Ricard seized the opportunity to acquire Chivas Brothers along with Allied Domecq. Which included the Ballantine’s brand.

Today, Chivas continues to produce two of the top three selling blends globally. And its extensive distillery portfolio, with Glenlivet as its flagship brand. Now rivals only Diageo’s in scale and prestige.

Turning to the Chivas Regal blend itself, the 12-year-old expression of this immensely popular whisky originally emerged from the expertise of Charles H. Julian for Seagram. When a talented fashion designer collaborates with a whisky icon, the results are often spectacular.

In this case, Christian La croix designed two limited edition Chivas Regal bottles:
an 18-year-old adorned with embroidered fabric and this 12-year-old presented in a striking silver bottle.
Both designs, moreover, emphasize the theme of ‘Chivalry,’ showcasing a remarkable fusion of elegance and tradition.
